Things You DON’T Need To Buy for Your Baby

In a mission to offer the baby the best care, most parents can’t resist the urge to buy almost every other baby product they come across in the baby warehouse.

But, soon enough, the home becomes jam-packed with products that leave more questions than answers. Particularly for first-time parents, the temptation to buy is always at an all-time high, and so is the expenditure on unnecessary items.

Now, if you are in the market for baby items in preparation for the arrival of a new member of the family, keep reading.

In this article, we’ll take you through some items not worth spending your money on.

Let’s dive in…

  1. Wipes warmer

In as much as using cold wipes on your little one seems a little savage, it presents no harm at all. Of course, warm wipes are more comfortable on the bum, but their use is not always practical. First and foremost, the use is by far limited to around the house. The moment you step out, it becomes unlikely that you’ll tag the warmer along.

And given that babies always mess up hence the need to change every few hours, it takes extreme patience to use the device at all times. Don’t forget-sometimes diaper change can be required in the most unlikely places where the warmer can’t serve its purpose.

  1. Dedicated changing table

Trust me on this one too. Now, while a changing table features prominently in most baby nursery checklists, it is not necessary for many reasons. First, although it may be useful for the first few weeks, it will soon become almost obsolete when the baby no longer dressed in diapers.

As such, you’ll be better off thinking in the long-term. Apart from improvising, you can go for utility furniture like a drawer dresser. That way, once you no longer need the top for changing, you remain happy using the drawers for storage.

  1. Fancy infant shoes

Listen! Babies do not move around on their feet, so it is fine forgetting about the shoes. Think about it. In rare situations will baby shoes come into use. For many, it boils down to a few special events which might as well never come about.  Otherwise warm pair of socks can do the job.

  1. Branded accessories

Baby products from revered labels usually come at a high price. Whether it’s girl clothes, infant formulas, or even furniture, the costs can be over the top. While the quality and benefits of top production techniques are guaranteed, it doesn’t count much, because babies cannot appreciate the concept of going pricey. Instead, go for reliable yet affordable alternatives which might accumulate you significant savings for a rainy day.

  1. Multiples of baby accessories

As a rule of the thumb, resist the temptation to buy more than one of the same item. In the worst-case scenario, stop at the second piece. Although it may seem affordable and convenient going this route, ask yourself what will happen if your baby doesn’t like the item. You might end up stocking multiples of something that you’ll never use. Maybe you can consider starting with one and depending on the results get more or drop it all the same.
